Mastersmith Dagger

To earn a Master Bladesmith rating in the American Bladesmith Society, a maker must among other things, build a large, quillion dagger with a Damascus blade and a fluted, wire-wrapped handle.  This was the dagger I made for my test.  More info on the testing procedures can be found at www.americanbladesmith.com

This dagger was made with a 300 layer ladder pattern blade, browned steel guard and butt cap, damascus spacers with coin silver accents, a fossil walrus jawbone handle and twisted silver wire wrap.  The entire knie can be disassembled.  This remains one of the few knives I will never sell.
