A high degree of fit and finish is one of the things that a knowledgeable buyer will look for.  Never let a knifemaker tell you that the reason why there is a bad scratch, an ill fitting guard, or a blade that's not quite straight is that the knife is handmade.  That's the difference between handmade and homemade.  There are no perfect knives, but perfection remains my goal, even though I know I will never reach it in this life.
