Steel is the basis of a high performance knife, and heat treating is the magic behind steel’s performance. I use high carbon steels for my knife blades and I do all my own heat treating. Since I don’t send out for heat treating, I not only maintain complete control over the process, but I can custom heat treat a knife for a particular use rather than giving all my knives a generic heat treatment.
