Laminated Combat #3

This blade is modeled after the general style of my combat #3, but this one's a little more like "Officer's Club" than trench warfare.  Not to downplay its utility if necessary.  In fact, the laminated blade with 416 stainless on the outsides, and a 1095 core, is as close as you can get to a maintenance free knife with the cutting performance of high carbon steel.

The pattern in the steel is still fascinating to me.  Here's a close up shot of a typical laminated blade with the metallurgical explanation of the pattern.

The guard, pin and lanyard hole are stainless, and the handle is a nice piece of desert ironwood.  I thought the gently swirled grain of this piece went nicely with the pattern in the steel.

The sheath is a deep pouch style with a "V" notch belt loop.
