Personal Amber Stag Integral
This small knife was forged from a 1/2" round section of W-1 tool steel. The blade was differentially hardened with clay and polished to show a nice hardening line, or hamon. I worked on this polish longer than usual, and I was able to get the line to really pop out. Often times, the line is wispy and hard to see, but not this one. Except for the blade flats, the rest of the exposed steel is mirror polished.
The handle scales are amber Sambar stag with six domed and polished nickel silver pins.
The sheath is a deep pouch style with an interesting basket weave pattern that I think approximates the texture in the stag. This is the first time I've done this pattern, and I really like the way it came out.
The blade on this knife is 3-3/8" and the overall length is about 7-1/4".
